As Joe said the ARC power-steering box is a good alternative. I suggest considering cost vs loss with each option and go from there. If you buy a rebuilt kit and you don't do it right you have to do it all again. If you buy the ARC and it doesn't work for some reason, I'm sure they would solve your problem very quickly.
