It’s generally only the sector shaft seal that leaks and it’s not a big deal to replace it.

You would be wise to have your old steering box rebuilt. I’ve run into problems with rebuilt & aftermarket steering boxes for my old mustang.

It’s all up to you in the end and how well you trust your work. They really aren’t that expensive though. http://www.fastermustang.com/product.php?productid=2882
    This one is 168 bucks

If you are experienced at breaking down, cleaning and rebuilding mechanical devices it is something that you could probably handle overtaking . As Joe said the ARC power-steering box is a good alternative. I suggest considering cost vs loss with each option and go from there. If you buy a rebuilt kit and you don’t do it right you have to do it all again. If you buy the ARC and it doesn’t work for some reason, I’m sure they would solve your problem very quickly.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

Just replace the seal it isn’t hard to do andyou can probably get one from motion industries for 4 or 5 bucks.
