A stock 2007 Mustang will outrun the “pansified” dress-up version of the Mustang, if only because it’s several pounds lighter (due to the ugly spoilers and ground effects package that’s included with the California Special edition!). Plus it’s almost two thousand dollars cheaper than the p.o.s. California car. Thanks for asking. Good luck!

The Mustang GT500 Shelby/Cobra. It is the fastest package on a Mustang and can beat a Corvette. The problem is that they are ranged from $40,000-$45,000.
I would pout money on my 98 Grand Prix GTP. I have it as well as a 06 mustang GT and i would say it would be a great race. All i have done to the gtp is changed out the pully on the supercharger and done a little gear and air intake mods but it is real fast.
There isn’t a new car that you can buy for the same or less money that will beat a gt mustang c/s in a race. Like earlier people said, maybe a gt mustang can because of weight, but I dont know the weight of a gt c/s stang vrs the weight of a gt mustang. I cant find the weight of a c/s gt stang. Also, the dodge srt8 charger is not faster then the mustang and it is more expensive. The gt mustang runs a 13.5 1/4 miles and so does the more expensive srt8 charger.

Like XC said, there are used cars you can by for the same price or cheaper that can beat them, expecially the 03/04 cobras which still are faster then any car made today for the same amount of money or less. I know you didnt really ask it in your question, but also like xc mentioned, the drivers abillity is probally the biggest factor in most races. You can put an experianced drag racer in a mustang gt and he will beat an unexperianced driver in the 1/4 mile even if he is in a new corvette z06. People that don’t have much experiance with drag racing don’t often realize how big of a deal a good driver really is. When I first modified my cobra and went to the track, I was beaten by a stock 05 gt mustang (he had drag radials) in my 2nd ever track race because of my error, even though my car had 535rwhp and I can now run a 10.9 1/4 mile in it. For that race, I ran a 13.5 and he ran a 13.3
Hey mitch, fyi GTP are slow! My stock 98 mustang (auto tranny) beat one no problem…to answer the question…any car could probably beat it with the right person driving (any good car) I bet a SRT4 could beat it.
Funny everyone gives u more expensive cars. The CS special is just a looks package nothing more. cost around 27-29K new. You can pick up a 03-04 Cobra used for that easily spank it. A new car ummm maybe a Subaru STi or Mitsu Evo. A GTO could win aswell. I think the driver can make a differce i have beaten Z06 Corvette’s in a Mustang
